The demand for bandwidth continues to escalate as consumers and businesses leverage networking and the Internet to fulfill their daily needs and improve their productivity. As a result, the need for high bandwidth optical transport equipment is tracking this bandwidth trend. The Cisco ONS 15454 platform has gained outstanding market acceptance by fulfilling the need for an optical transport solution that is simple to engineer, quick to install, and easy to provision. The Cisco ONS 15454 provides the user with an Internet-scale, carrier-class optical transport system designed to meet these growing bandwidth demands. Feedback from customers and Cisco field personnel help drive the constant evolution of the product and its functionality. As a result, the Cisco ONS 15454 introduces a new product offering, the High-Density BNC Electrical Interface Adapter (EIA). These new EIA panels double the capacity for BNC terminations on the Cisco ONS 15454 from the current 24 transmit and receive ports per half shelf to 48 ports. This enables the user to further leverage a Cisco ONS 15454 chassis for greater DS3 or STS1/EC1 service terminations. This addition allows a single Cisco ONS 15454 shelf assembly to terminate 96 BNC DS3 circuits, all in an 18.5-inch high by 17.5-inch wide system. This High-Density BNC Electrical Interface Adapter is for side A installation.
